Though I don't game, this film always reminds me of when I brought a girlfriend to the comic book shop in some of the smaller towns I lived in. It was like the saloon scenes in westerns. The door opened, spilling light onto the countertops. Pages ceased to shuffle, dice halted mid-roll.
A girl!
Thankfully, here in Chicago the proprietors and regulars in my comic book shop know how to converse with women. Plus the place is super cool, so there is plenty of hotness to go around!
The SFF aisle of the bookstore was just as bad as the comic book store. Once in high school while I was at the B.Dalton browsing through the SFF shelves, I ran into a guy I knew from school and had hung out with in study hall. (To show my true nerdliness, let me explain that I was a library assistant and he was a frequent library patron.) As I recall, we kind of startled each other, neither of us said hello or anything, and we went back to perusing the books at opposite ends of the aisle. I thought it was weird then, and looking back on it, it's still weird but also painfully awkward.
