6/19 ettera...
d20 word count is up to 30k (out the 150 goal) ... and H cried herself to sleep on Father's Day.

Joanne lost her father at twelve. The first few years I knew her, she still got depressed on his birthday and the anniversary of his death. It's tough, but her thoughts will eventually turn from mourning to fond memories. Hang in there, you two.

Nods. I'd be worried if she didn't have this sort of reaction ... but damn if it isn't hard being unable to help.

Being unable to help. That's the crux of it, isn't it? And it's something that I think husbands and wives just have to feel now and then. It comes with the territory.

Amen to that.

Sorry to hear that, Harley. Me, I lost my dad six months before I was born, so I don't feel much more than numb whenever Father's Day or his birthday comes around. But I sympathize and wish the best for the both of you.
