Coming in May: Legacy of the Savage Kings

"Remember the good old days, when adventures were underground, NPCs were there to be killed, and the finale of every dungeon was the dragon on the 20th level? Those days are back. Dungeon Crawl Classics don't waste your time with long-winded speeches, weird campaign settings, or NPCs who aren't meant to be killed. Each adventure is 100% good, solid dungeon crawl, with the monsters you know, the traps you fear, and the secret doors you know are there somewhere.

For centuries, the Great Swamp has hidden hints of an ancient culture of barbarian kings. While passing through this miserable bog, the PCs encounter Stygoth the Damned, a half-dead black dragon driven mad by a mysterious disease. Delving further, the heroes discover that the disease is tied to the very swamp itself. A great corruption once infested this place, destroying the savage barbarian kings and leaving only mighty statues as their legacy. Now this corruption has returned, and a terrible Witch Queen is mining the corrupted swamp-earth to produce evil, blighted artifacts. In order to stop the spread of these evil weapons, the heroes must enter the ancient caves of the savage kings, put to rest the corrupt legacy of their downfall, end the disease that scars the land, and then face off against the Witch Queen herself."

Come get your Conan on. :)

Hey Saurus, name the module we played as kids with the black dragon in it ...

And thank YOU, Chris & Co., (and Alex & Co.) for playtesting the adventure and putting it through the paces.

When it hits the stores in May, it would be a hoot if you guys wanted to post your adventures/mis-adventures on the Dungeon Crawl Classic Boards.

Hey! This looks familiar. (Awesome)

Geek trivia: the first draft of this module was written as a gift to Alex/MNTS because I was stuck in New Hampshire without anyone to game with. :)

i want to say isle of dread but i think that was just dinosaurs and giant snakes. White Plume Mountain just had the chimera (and inverted ziggurat as i recall - and that stupid lava pit that was annoying).

wait, wasn't there one with a swamp and an inn and a dragon flying around? for some reason i want to say were-rats too but maybe i'm thinking something different.

Yup! "Tomb of the Lizard King." Remember the vampire-lizardking, and about 8 bijillion square feet of underground caverns? :)
